Meet the newest addition to the New West arts beat.

The Arts Council of New Westminster, with support from 100 Braid Street Studios, the City of New Westminster and the B.C. Arts Council, is introducing a new podcast highlighting the city’s arts scene.

ARTSNW will be hosted by Joel Mackenzie (of Mainland – a B.C. History Podcast). He’ll dive into the city’s vibrant arts scene by chatting with a who’s who of New Westminster artists, composers, writers, makers and arbiters as they look at how art is conceived, created and consumed in today’s culture.

Each episode includes on-site interviews in the spaces where the guests work, where Joel encourages them to examine how art affects their perception of the world and their own internal artistic practices.

“By physically anchoring the artist and their art in the places where they create, an unusual level of intimacy and insight is offered the audience,” says a press release.

You can find the podcast at artsnw.buzzsprout.com. (Episode 1 features an interview with composer John Oliver.)
