Tourism Victoria launches new app for visitors’ tablets

The destination marketing organization has launched a new Victoria iPad application that will offer pictures, videos, stories and a variety of links that will help tell the story of Victoria.

“This is targeting people planning [trips] as well as those already on the ground,” said Tourism Victoria director of marketing Trina Mousseau. “It’s fun for people planning a trip to Victoria. It’s a new and different communication vehicle.”

The organization has always had a smartphone app for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, but Mousseau said this is their first foray into the tablet market and gets them ahead of destinations like Vancouver.

The app is an interactive how-to guide for the area complete with stories, photos, videos and connections to Tourism Victoria’s social media platforms. It is available for download from the iTunes store. Tourism Victoria has also launched a new video this week, showing visitors talking about what they love about Victoria.
