Police said the blaze started about 2:25 a.m. this morning in the restauarant located in the Sheraton Hotel on McCallum Road.
The Langford Fire Department responded and contained the fire without any further incident.
West Shore RCMP were also called to the scene after a burglary alarm in the restaurant went off at the same time.
“Like with anything, we’re going to see if it’s suspicious and determine the cause,” said Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz, the West Shore RCMP spokeswoman.
This isn’t the first time that a suspicious fire has started at the hotel.
In October 2005, a midmorning blaze destroyed the under construction hotel and forced 400 customers of a nearby Costco to be evacuated due to safety concerns.
