Saanich police will be taking a close look at video from a Mac’s Convenience store after an armed robbery Monday night.
Sgt. Drew Robertson said the thief went into the store at Shelbourne Street and Cedar Hill Cross Road about 6:45 p.m. and went into the bathroom. “He stayed in there so long the clerk forgot he was in there,” said Robertson.
In the meantime, the clerk temporarily locked the front door and was working in a back room. The thief started pulling about $1,000 worth of bus tickets off the shelf. The clerk came out and caught him. “As he tried to run away, he and the clerk were in a bit of a fight. A knife was produced by the bad guy and he fled,” said Robertson.
