Westshore Rebels to open BCFC season Aug. 4 in Langley

The Westshore Rebels will kick off the B.C. Football Conference schedule on Aug. 4 in Langley against the Rams. The league released its 2018 schedule Tuesday. The other four teams hit the field Aug.

The Westshore Rebels will kick off the B.C. Football Conference schedule on Aug. 4 in Langley against the Rams.

The league released its 2018 schedule Tuesday.

The other four teams hit the field Aug. 5, with the defending-champion Vancouver Island Raiders in Chilliwack to take on the Valley Huskers and the Okanagan Sun in Kamloops to play the Broncos.

Each team will play 10 games.

The teams will play four consecutive weekends before taking a Labour Day break and returning to the field the Sept. 8-9.

The Rebels open at home Aug. 11 against the Okanagan Sun. The other Westshore games at Westhills Staduim are Aug. 25 in the Island derby against the Raiders, Sept. 15 against Kamloops, Sept. 22 against Langley and Oct. 6 against Chilliwack.

The Raiders’ home dates at Caledonia Park are Aug. 11 against Kamloops, Aug. 18 versus Langley, Sept. 8 against Westshore, Sept. 29 against Okanagan and Oct. 13 vs. Chilliwack.

The BCFC playoffs open Oct. 20-21 with the top four teams advancing to semifinal play. The Cullen Cup league championship game will take place the following weekend.

The Raiders defeated the Rebels in the all-Island Cullen Cup final last year at Westhills Stadium.

The BCFC champion will host the Ontario Football Conference champion Nov. 3 in the national semifinal. The winner will advance to the Canadian Bowl at the home of the Prairie Football Conference champion on Nov. 17.
