Coleman Vollrath of the Victoria Royals was named Vaughn Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week on Tuesday.

The native of Calgary appeared in three games for the Royals last week, and registered a 3-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average, .970 save percentage and two shutouts.

Vollrath backstopped the Royals to a 6-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets, who are the second-ranked team in the CHL. He followed up with back-to-back shutouts with 2-0 and 3-0 victories over the Vancouver Giants.

Vollrath set the franchise’s all-time record for shutouts in a season with six and also extended Victoria’s all-time franchise mark for team shutouts in a campaign to eight.

In 52 games with Victoria this season, Vollrath has posted a 28-14-3-1 record with a 2.97 GAA and .905 save percentage and six shutouts.

Vollrath is in his third WHL season with the Royals and has registered a career record of 52-34-4-4 to go along with seven shutouts, a 2.87 GAA and a .909 save percentage in 113 games played.

Vollrath becomes the second goaltender in Royals’ team history to receive the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the week award. The first was Patrik Polivka last season.

Vollrath and the Royals return to action this weekend when they play a home-and-home series with the Everett Silvertips, beginning Friday night at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. The games are the final two of the regular season before the playoffs begin March 27.
