The Victoria Highlanders have signed two players, both with international development experience, who led the University of Cape Breton Capers to the U Sports national men’s soccer championship last fall.

Marcus Campanile is a former U-20 player for Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen. Peter Schaale developed in the youth system of Bundesliga side FC Köln.

“I hope I can grow and learn as a player and also as an individual by committing to the Highlanders,” said Schaale.

“[Highlanders head coach Thomas Niendorf] is a very experienced and highly rated coach in Germany and the ownership group seems to be very committed.”

The Highlanders now have six players signed for 2018.

Victoria opens the United Soccer League Premier Development League season on May 11 in Calgary against the Foothills. The Highlanders’ home opener is May 20 at Centennial Stadium against Portland Timbers U-23.
