The foursome bounced back with a strong 9-1 win over Colin Anderson of Grand Forks in just six ends in the morning. Habkirk stole three in the first end and added swipes of two in the second and third ends and another theft in the fourth to open up an 8-0 lead.

In the afternoon draw, Habkirk struck for a deuce in the first end and added three in the fifth in a 7-1 victory over Tyler Proctor of Royal City before having the evening draw off.

Jordan Kiss of Royal City, with Victoria’s Derek Chandler at lead, improved to 1-1 with a 5-3 morning win over clubmate Proctor.

In junior women’s play, Mariah Coulombe and her VCC rink of third Taylor Reese-Hansen, second Jordan Koster and lead Kirsten Zucchet also rebounded from an 0-2 start with a 9-4 afternoon victory over Alyssa Connell of Prince George.

Coulombe was slated to face Megan Bourassa of the Delta Thistle in the late draw.

In a battle for first place in the evening draw, Corryn Brown of Kamloops, with Nanaimo’s Marisa Van Osch at third, was set to face Cieraa Fisher of Chilliwack. Both were 2-0.

Sarah Daniel of Delta Thistle/Royal City, with Sydney Brilz of Victoria at lead, edged Alysha Buchy of Kimberley 5-4 in the afternoon to improve to 2-1.

Play continues today with draws at 9 a.m., 2 and 7 p.m. The finals are slated for Sunday.
