Saanich police and firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a dump truck late Sunday night.
Witnesses called 911 around 10:10 p.m. to report that a large industrial truck was fully engulfed in flames behind a business in the 3500-block of Quadra Street, said police spokesman Sgt. Steve Eassie. Firefighters quickly put out the blaze.
There was no obvious cause of the fire, which made police suspicious.
Saanich police detectives and Saanich Fire inspectors were called out to gather evidence, Eassie said. The truck has been seized for further inspection to determine the cause of the fire.
