LONDON - Queens Park Rangers is targeting former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in the January transfer window.

The former France international left the English Premier League a year ago for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua, but QPR manager Harry Redknapp hopes to entice him back.

Redknapp claims the 33-year-old Anelka is "finishing in China so he is available."

Redknapp says if the financial package Anelka wants is "within reason, he is a player that could certainly improve your team. There is no doubt about it."

QPR climbed off the bottom of the league last weekend by winning its first game of the season against Fulham.
