MELBOURNE, Australia - Two goals from Marco Rojas helped the Melbourne Victory to a 3-2 win over the Newcastle Jets in Australia's A-League on Friday.

Rojas' first goal in the 34th minute and another by Archie Thompson on halftime gave the Victory a 2-0 lead. But Newcastle levelled with a goal by Ruben Zadkovich in the 64th minute and former England international Emile Heskey's strike just two minutes before Rojas scored the winner in the 75th.

It was the final match of the 13th round and the win moved the third-place Victory to within four points of the first-place Central Coast Marinerse and two behind Adelaide United.

The leading teams both lost matches earlier in the round, including a 1-0 Mariners' loss to the Alessandro Del Piero-led Sydney FC on Thursday.
