LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Jeremy Hassler came off the bench to score a quick try as Canada beat Kenya 19-12 at the Las Vegas Sevens rugby tournament Friday.

Hassler joined the game three seconds into the second half and scored 1:25 later. Nathan Hirayama's ensuing convert put Canada ahead for good with a 14-7 lead.

Nanyak Dala and Sean Duke also scored tries for Canada (1-1), while Hirayama had two converts against Kenya (1-1).

Canada suffered a 17-5 drubbing by South Africa in a later game.

John Moonlight's try late in the second half was all the offence Canada would get after South Africa (2-0) opened a 10-0 lead in the first.

Canada plays its last Pool B game Saturday against Uruguay before moving onto the playoffs.
