Not winning a game during the fall season didn't matter to a local rugby team. They pushed on and fought hard, and made it to the semi-final for the second division on May 7.

"All it did was make them work harder and we were rewarded by coming in second in the second half," said coach John Morgan.

The Ridge Meadows Lady Bruins faced Burnaby Lake on May 7, and although the final score was 12-0, Morgan is proud of his team.

"I am proud of the way they evolved this year," said Morgan, "as they are learning what it takes to win."

Unfortunately Morgan said due to work and illness, the team was missing "two key people" last Saturday and as a result had to adjust their lineup.

"The ladies played amazing but the size of the other team wore them down," he said, "allowing the Burnaby team to score twice."

"They did not quit though as by the time the game was called the girls had Burnaby hemmed in their own end but could not finish off with a try."

The season started in September, with a break for December and January, and then continued through April and the playoffs.

The Ridge Meadows Lady Bruins are keeping in playing shape with conditioning throughout the summer, and the Ridge Meadows Rugby Club is hoping to coordinate a tag rugby league, with mixed teams, for the summer.
