The Canadian men's sevens rugby team won twice on Friday to finish first in its pool at the Hertz Sevens event in Wellington, New Zealand. The Canadians opened the day with a 19-14 win over France as Nathan Hirayama scored a try and added two converts. Australia edged Canada 14-12 in the second match of the day, but the Canadians responded with a 21-14 comeback win over Kenya. Conor Trainor, with two tries, led the Canadian attack in what was a must-win game. Canada plays Samoa in its quarter-final today. If the Canadians win that, they'll play the winner of the South Africa/Fiji game.
The Spurs bent, but didn't break.
