There will be a distinctive Island flavour when the top senior high school players in the province gather today for the 2015 B.C. Boys and Girls High School Basketball All-Star Games at the Langley Events Centre.

But the event brings with it a scenario in which usual teammates will go head-to-head, including Oak Bay Breakers guard Morgan Roskelley and post Lauren Yearwood in the girls’ competition.

Roskelley joins Chelsey Hoey of Ballenas and Mark Isfeld’s Avery Snider on Team Leduc, which will be coached by Claude Leduc of Mulgrave.

Yearwood, who is heading to the University of Oregon this coming season, will be part of Team Veale, led by coach Chris Veale of Brookswood.

In boys’ play, Nanaimo’s Tyus Barfoot, Joshua Charles of Cowichan, Oak Bay’s Matt Gray and Jason Scully, of the B.C. double-A champion St. Michaels University School Blue Jags, will team up with coach Euan Roberts of Yale.

They will tip-off at 5 p.m. against a team led by coach Jordan Taylor (Fleetwood Park), following the girl’s game at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door at the LEC at $5 for students and $10 for adults.
