Steven Shipley hat trick helps IceDogs rally in a 7-4 win over Otters

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Steven Shipley scored the hat trick as the Niagara IceDogs ushered out 2012 with a 7-4 come from behind victory over the Erie Otters in OHL action Monday.

Erie led 3-1 after one period.

Mitchell Theoret's goal at 6:13 of the third period broke a 4-4 tie. Mack Lemmon, Carter Verhaeghe and Shayne Rover had the other goals for Niagara (22-14-2).

Bo Bessette picked up his first career OHL win making 19 saves after replacing Chris Festarini midway through the first period.

Connor Crisp, Dane Fox, Adam Pelech and Jimmy McDowell replied for Erie (12-21-5).

Otters goalie Devin Williams was replaced by Daniel Dekoning midway through the third period after allowing seven goals on 37 shots.

The IceDogs were 2-for-4 on the powerplay. Erie was 3-for-7.
