Athanasiou with three points as the Colts down the IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Andreas Athanasiou had three points as the Barrie Colts beat the host Niagara IceDogs 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.

Athanasiou opened the scoring on the power play in the first period and added two assists for the Colts (25-11-1) and Josh MacDonald scored twice, including an empty-net goal.

Erik Bradford added a single goal to round out Barrie's offence and Mathias Niederberger made 31 stops for the win.

Steven Shipley scored his 19th goal of the season on the power play for the IceDogs (22-15-2) as Chris Festarini turned aside 31 shots in the loss.

Barrie went 2 for 4 on the power play while Niagara scored once on four chances with the man advantage.
