It's only 30 seconds long, but a new tourism promotion created by the B.C. government features a pretty impressive array of local celebrities.

Singer Sarah McLachlan, actors Michael J. Fox, Ryan Reynolds, Eric McCormack (of Will & Grace fame) and Kim Cattrall, and basketball star Steve Nash all make an appearance in the HelloBC.com spot, which is designed to pump up British Columbia as a destination in advance of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The ad, modelled on a similar one produced to promote California tourism (naturally, with a longer list of high-profile actors), will be part of a massive campaign on TV, print and the Internet the government hopes will get millions of views and boost the international profile of the Games.

The celebrities are shown in landscapes meant to show the diversity of B.C. from vineyards, to towering forest, city skyline and ocean front. Orcas, as usual, are featured.

“It’s big!” says Michael J. Fox, standing under a cedar.

“Beautiful,” says McLachlan, wearing gumboots by the ocean.

“Sophisticated!” says Cattrall, sipping wine by a winery.

All those who appear reportedly donated honoraria to charity.
