CALGARY - The Calgary Stampeders signed linebacker Rod Davis while releasing veterans Anwar Stewart and Jason Armstead on Monday.

Davis is entering his fifth CFL season. He spent his first three years with the Edmonton Eskimos before playing in 2012 with the Montreal Alouettes.

"With Rod having spent the majority of his career up the road in Edmonton, I am very familiar with his abilities," Stampeders head coach/GM John Hufnagel said in a statement. "He's an excellent addition to our team and I look forward to seeing him perform in a Stampeders uniform.''

The six-foot-four, 255-pound Stewart joined the Stampeders as a free agent Oct. 10, 2012. He began his CFL career with Calgary in 2001 before spending the next 10 seasons with Montreal.

Armstead, a nine-year CFL veteran, signed with Calgary in September 2012.
