Chiefs sign RB Jones

The Kansas City Chiefs signed free-agent running-back Thomas Jones yesterday in a move that will bolster the Chiefs' running game. Jones had a career high 1,402 yards, the third highest in the NFL, and 14 touchdowns last season for the New York Jets and he will join Jamaal Charles, who ran for 1,120 yards and a joint league high 5.9 yards per carry last season, at the Chiefs. Jones has rushed for 9,217 career yards and gone over 1,000 yards rushing the last five seasons. In other NFL moves yesterday, quarterback Derek Anderson has was released by the Cleveland Browns a day after the Browns agreed to terms with Seattle Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, while the Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed Antwaan Randle El, a receiver who was a key part of the team's Super Bowl win in 2006.
