Ex-Canucks Naslund, Fraser named to B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame

VANCOUVER — Two former Vancouver Canucks and another great player from British Columbia have been named to the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame.

VANCOUVER — Two former Vancouver Canucks and another great player from British Columbia have been named to the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Markus Naslund, Curt Fraser and Rob Niedermayer, the Cranbrook forward who played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League, are in the 2015 induction class named this morning at a news conference at Rogers Arena.

Naslund, the Swedish winger who became the Canucks' captain, left Vancouver in 2008 as the franchise's all-time leading scorer and is one of four Canucks to have his jersey retired by the National Hockey League team.

"I'm very humbled and honoured," Naslund said during a teleconference. "I'm really thrilled."

Fraser, who was born in the United States but grew up in North Vancouver, was a key member of the 1982 Canucks’ team that went to the Stanley Cup Final, and eventually began a 22-year coaching career that has included a stint as a head coach in the NHL.

The Hall-of-Fame ceremony will be held July 24 in Penticton.
