FUSSEN, Germany - Melodie Daoust scored two goals to lead Canada to a 8-3 victory over Russia in the final of the Meco Cup women's hockey tournament at the Fussen Arena on Sunday.

Jamie Lee Rattray, Laura Stacey, Brianne Jenner, Brigette Lacquette, Carolyne Prevost and Laura Stacey had the other goals as Canada's under-22 squad won its third gold medal in four years.

"It was a very mature team," said head coach Pierre Alain. "They handled everything perfectly. The group was very good and team-building was very good."

Tatiana Burina scored twice for Russia, while Ekaterina had the other goal.

Finland beat Germany 6-3 in the bronze-medal game. In the fifth-place game, Sweden beat Switzerland 4-3 in overtime.

Sweden won the Meco Cup last year. Canada settled for a third-place finish.
