FUSSEN, Germany - Canada's under-22 women's hockey team will play for gold at the Meco Cup

Sarah Lefort and Jenelle Kohanchuk scored second-period goals Saturday as Canada defeated Finland 2-0.

The Canadians will play Russia for gold on Sunday, a year after they had to settle for bronze.

"We were very happy, our team, very happy to be part of the final, and we'll be ready for (Sunday's) game," said Canadian coach Pierre Alain.

Genevieve Lacasse earned the shutout for Canada.

The victory comes on the heels of Canada's preliminary-round opener, a 4-0 victory over Switzerland.

Alain was pleased with how the team dictated the pace from the opening minute.

"We were very good in the first period," he said. "When we set our pace, and when we move our skates the way we moved our skates today, and when we move the puck the way we moved the puck today, it's tough to handle.

"So it was tough for them to follow us in the first period. It was momentum for us going into the second period."

Finland will play Germany for bronze Sunday, while Sweden, last year's winner, will face Switzerland for fifth place.
