August camp schedules set for Royals

The Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League announced the schedule for their 2016 draft, rookie, and main training camps, set to take place at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League announced the schedule for their 2016 draft, rookie, and main training camps, set to take place at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Camp opens on Wednesday for players selected in the 2016 WHL bantam draft.

Rookie camp begins next Friday and concludes on Aug. 28. The rookie rosters comprise players born in 2000 and 2001, skaters who have been drafted or protected by the Royals and free agent invites.

Main camp Aug. 29-30 will be composed of returning players from the club’s 2015-16 roster, free-agent invitees born between 1996 and 1999 and selected players from this year’s draft and rookie camps.

The players will be divided into three teams for on-ice sessions during main camp.
