Gallery: BC Place stadium, the new and old looks

The aging roof at BC Place will be replaced after the Olympics by a $458 million retractable roof, BC Pavilion Corp. chair David Podmore confirmed Friday morning. The new stadium is expected to be finished by the summer of 2011. Once complete, the roof will be the largest cable-supported, fully-retractable, fabric roof in the world. It will take about 20 minutes for the roof to open or close.
