HEE, Olive (Alice) (nee Chew) April 24, 1917 - January 28, 2012 At 94, Alice lived a long full life. Her secret was hard work, a happy disposition and good genes. Alice was born into a pioneer Victoria family where farm life made her strong in health and in character. She still gardened and sewed well into her nineties. With her husband, Cheung Hee (Johnny) Alice managed family grocery stores in New Westminster. Her business sense and customer service were equally a social pleasure for her. Wise in her ways, she raised 4 children, who are thankful that she was their "First Teacher." Always active, Alice's trademarks were her scrumptious meals, beautiful handicrafts and flourishing flower and vegetable gardens. Alice was blessed with longevity in her family, as did her predeceased parents, Chew Dang and Yee Sze Chew and siblings, Sam, Max and Joan.

Alice died of heart failure and will be dearly missed by her children: Beverly, Gary (Loretta), Shirley (Jack), Herb (Nancy), grandchildren: Gavin, Cheryl (Tom), Clifford, Darren, Linda (Frank), Derek (Eri), and great grandchildren: Maxx, Brett and Kristen, along with siblings: Helen, Mary, Diane, John, Sue, Nancy, Grace and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her fruits of labour were remarkable and kept her young at heart.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to any of the following charities is appreciated: Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes or Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society, Ste. 201, 13281 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC, V3W 2N5, in memory of Olive Hee. MILLIGAN, May April 3, 1922 - January 28, 2012 "Where the blue of the night meets the gold of the day, someone waits for me." Gone to be with her beloved Wallace, loving son Wally, son-in-law Graham Rice, grandson, Clarke Milne and all her family and friends who have been waiting in the great beyond. Left with a lifetime of happy memories are her daughter Janet Aitken (Brian), her son Joe Milligan (Lesley), grandchildren Catherine Milne, Susan Theim (Erwin), Graham Rice (Janine), David Milligan, Jenny Newman, Andrew Milligan (Rachel), Stuart Newman, Scott Bugden (Kim), Heather Milligan (Chesley), Bonnie Milligan, and great-grandchildren Julia and Nicola, Kaylie and Dylan, Matthew and Emily, Shayna, Tasha and Alexa, and Cayden and family in Scotland. May was born in Glasgow, Scotland, April 3, 1922 and married Wallace in July, 1941 just before he was posted overseas for four long years. After the war, May and Wallace decided to start a new life.

In November, 1948 with Janette and Joe they sailed for Canada, then travelled by train from Halifax to Vancouver where Wallace continued his career as a professional soccer player. In 1950, they moved to the Island where Wallace was player/coach for the Victoria United and May ran a busy homemade jams and jellies business from their farm on West Saanich Rd. In the 60's, May purchased Catherine Wilson's Corset Shop on Fort St. and spent many happy years serving the needs of her customers.

May and Wallace maintained their Scottish heritage with lifetime membership in the St.

Andrews and Caledonian Society, where they enjoyed all the dancing and celebrations that reminded them of "home". With retirement in the 80's, they moved to their holiday cabin in Qualicum Bay and spent the next decade on the beach, hosting friends and family, square and round dancing, carpet bowling and volunteering with the local Lions Club.

Their grandchildren will never forget those special years at "the cabin". May and Wallace loved their annual visits to Hawaii and trips to the "old country". By 1991 they were back in Victoria continuing their rich social life and enjoying their expanding family. After the loss of her son, Wally in 1995 and her husband, Wallace in 1997, May's life changed and for the next few years she struggled to maintain her independence. In 2006, May became a resident at Sidney Care Home where she spent her last years. The family is forever grateful to the staff for the kindness, love, respect, and excellent care they gave her every day. May left us with a smile on her face, her family by her side, and her favourite Scottish tunes calling her home.

A celebration of May's life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2:00 pm at First Unitarian Church, 5575 West Saanich Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Jeneece Place/Queen Alexandra Foundation.

She whom we love and lose Is no longer where she was before.

She is now wherever we are.
