No Canadians were able to make it out of the quarter-finals on Wednesday at a FIS World Cup parallel giant slalom event in Stoneham, Que.

Matthew Morison of Burketon, Ont., had the best result of the bunch. He qualified in sixth place, but was eliminated in the round of 16.

Morison split his two first-round races against Slovenia’s Zan Kosir, but was eliminated based on time differential. The Canadian was classified in ninth.

Austria’s Andrea Prommegger beat his teammate Manuel Veith in the gold-medal final. Nevin Galmarini of Switzerland won the bronze.

Olympic gold medallist and four-time world champion Jasey-Jay Anderson of Lac Superieur, Que., was among the 11 Canadian men who didn’t crack the top 16. He placed 24th.

Caroline Calve of Gatineau, Que., was the only Canadian women to reach the head-to-head stage by making the top 16 in qualifying. She qualified in 13th place and split her two races against Germany’s Amelie Kober and was eliminated on time difference. Clave was classified in 15th place.

Russia’s Ekaterina Tudegesheva won the gold, beating Austria’s Julia Dujmovits in the final. Julie Zogg of Switzerland was third.

Seven other Canadian women were eliminated in qualifying.
