About two dozen surfers hit the waters off Cordova Bay on Saturday. Southeast wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour battered much of eastern Vancouver Island until mid-afternoon Saturday, forcing cancellation of several ferry sailings and floatplane flights.
