‘Yes or no’ format a weakness at forum

The story on the Victoria all-candidates meeting illustrates the perils of the “yes or no” answers that often seem to be demanded at these meetings.

My views on drug addictions policy are, in fact, very similar to those expressed by Stephen Andrew at the meeting and reported in the story — essentially, that we need to put more effort into active intervention to move people to acute care and then recovery, even using the courts if necessary.

I assume Andrew interpreted the question of support for safe-consumption sites in the context of those changes also being implemented, while I interpreted it as if they would not be.
