Winnipeg offers Canada Day challenge

We in Winnipeg hear that Victoria is organizing a Living Flag event on Canada Day. While we’re excited you’ll be showing your national pride on July 1, Winnipeg wants you to know that we’re the city to beat.

We in Winnipeg hear that Victoria is organizing a Living Flag event on Canada Day.

While we’re excited you’ll be showing your national pride on July 1, Winnipeg wants you to know that we’re the city to beat.

Since our inaugural event in 2011, more than 10,000 Winnipeggers have assembled downtown, dressed in red and white patriotic attire, to help defend our title as the largest “living flag” in Canada. In 2012, our living-flag photo was chosen and produced as an official Canada Post stamp — with more than 10 million stamps circulated worldwide.

We’ve beaten Langley, Calgary and Ottawa in the past, so we know we have what it takes to come out on top. Which city will take the title? Canada awaits the answer on July 1.
