We need a unified tsunami warning system

If the latest tsunami snafu isn’t an amalgamation alert, what will it take to make bigger waves?

Victoria-area municipalities use different notification systems, or no systems at all, to warn residents who live in tsunami zones.

The Capital Regional District’s protective-services manager points out that a single, consistent approach should be found to avoid the “disparity.”

So instead of Victoria, Sooke, Saanich and other affected municipalities making excuses, isn’t it time to create uniform systems?

We keep talking about the “big one.” Heaven help the many municipalities when the earthquake hits.

And when we amalgamate, let’s get the tsunami zone signs re-erected.
