Washington mudslide a warning to B.C.

The recent devastating mudslide in Washington should ring alarm bells, especially regarding the B.C. government’s allowance — even blessing — of the current wasteful forestry practices in our province.

Without sufficient numbers of trees to halt erosion, not only will landscapes and ecosystems be harmed, but many people could lose their homes and their lives. Our debt to nature (far exceeding the provincial monetary debt) is reaching a point of no return. Time to start paying her back.

A good place to begin would be to rescind Bill 4 allowing “research” in provincial parks.
