View Royal flowers don’t belong in roads

Is it just me thinking it ironic when the writer states: “These flowerbeds — situated in the middle of the roads where traffic crawls are common — add a visual pleasure to ease drivers’ frustrations and reduce road rage.”

Perhaps flowerbeds were not meant to be in the middle of roadways. Perhaps that alternating third lane instead of the gardens would have reduced that road rage.

Is the road water runoff really jumping those curbs or is there some other costly way the water is finding its way to these boulevards? Those of us using the road off-hours to avoid the crawl don’t feel all warm and fuzzy about being slowed or stopped for the constant flower maintenance.

Maybe when the new development goes in, the mayor and council can devise a roundabout with a big fountain in the middle spewing fairy dust to keep us all enchanted. Reality check, please.
