I think it is short-sighted to cut old-growth forests when we can have tourists coming to B.C. for the next 500 years to view those forests.
There are few stands of old-growth timber left in B.C. It would be an incredible shame to cut these for a small and temporary profit.
The provincial government should act to preserve these forests. The easiest solution is to make all old-growth forests provincial parks. Timber companies could receive tax credits to cover lost revenues.
Then, in a hundred years, our grandchildren will be able to see nature at its finest.
