Trudeau did us proud at governors’ meeting

Quite by chance, I found myself watching the CPAC network and the speech by our prime minister to the U.S. governors at their meeting in Rhode Island.

Quite by chance, I found myself watching the CPAC network and the speech by our prime minister to the U.S. governors at their meeting in Rhode Island.

I appreciate that his speech was crafted by professional writers, and probably went through numerous drafts to ensure it delivered just the right tone, but Justin Trudeau’s delivery, timing, enunciation, clarity, thoughtful arguments and eloquence, with several passages spoken in flawless French, was a delight to behold and hear.

Whether his defence of Canada’s trading partnership with the U.S. and NAFTA won the day remains to be seen, but I’ll wager that not one person in that room didn’t wish their chief executive could be as articulate, intelligent, diplomatic and coherent.

While I would not describe myself as a huge fan of Trudeau, he did Canada proud.
