Why is B.C. Transit permitted to change regular working days to a Saturday schedule? Even if ridership is down over Christmas holidays, thousands of people still go to work and don’t have holidays.
Transit changed the schedule for Dec. 24 and 31 to the Saturday schedule as if these days were stat holidays. I know the Westshore and other areas were caught unprepared and anyone who worked on Dec. 24 was late for work. It will be repeated on Dec. 31.
As a Colwood resident, I have two options on the Saturday schedule — arrive an hour early (can’t get in the office) or arrive 15 minutes late, which shows on my record, then I stay 15 minutes late to make up the time and have no clue what time I can get the bus home. The service after Goldstream along Sooke Road is pathetic once No. 61 quits service and changes into 50/61 — Goldstream Road only, anywhere from a half- to one-and-a-half hours, depending on the time of day.
I have fought B.C. Transit for a few years over lack of sevice to people without vehicles, changing service to provide service to vehicle owners. And people who don’t have vehicles? To heck with them. They can chase the bus.
Further distress is providing community bus service once an hour that arrives at the exchange 30 minutes before any downtown bus service. Does that make sense? No!
