Thumbs Up - To B.C.'s conflict-of-interest commissioner Paul Fraser, for stepping away from the investigation into allegations against Premier Christy Clark, because of his son's position as a senior B.C. government official, and handing the matter over to his counterpart from the Northwest Territories.
Thumbs Down - To the vandals who damaged the lock and spray-painted slogans at the campaign office of Paul Summerville, Liberal candidate in the Nov. 26 Victoria byelec-tion, and to anyone who would damage the signs or interfere with the campaign of any candidate.
Thumbs Up - To Shelley Eaves for organizing two Swab Mob drives to register potential stem-cell donors. In spite of being ill with leukemia herself, she galvanized Victorians to step up to save a life.
Thumbs Up - To the Downtown Victoria Business Association for bringing a ferris wheel to Centennial Square for the Christmas season. Last year it was the artificial ice rink; this year it's another unexpected taste of childhood for Victoria's winter shoppers.
