Does anybody else have an Olympic hangover? Hockey season had better start soon because, God bless the Canadian Football League, which really tries to fill the void, we're ready for more high-level sports.
And, as much as we love major-league baseball, it doesn't exactly have the same level of excitement - well, in August anyway.
It's almost unfair how the Olympics teases us with heart-stopping passion and variety for three weeks.
Oh, the variety! Where else, aside from the Olympics, can you turn on your television set in the morning and watch soccer, swimming, water polo, volleyball and archery, without even changing the channel?
As for that earworm, the I Believe song that seemed to take over the Canadian broadcasts, most of us in the newsroom believe it's about time to retire that tune. We thought it odd that the song and theme, which really did work for Vancouver 2010, was used to promote the 2012 London Games - and not just for Canada's contingent, but for the rest of the world too?
Maybe it's our own fault, Canada. Maybe if we hadn't convinced those in all those other countries to believe, we'd have another medal or two to our credit. But then, we Canadians are pretty polite and sharing the wealth seems like something we'd do.
