The letter-writer suggests that “by February 2016, physician-assisted death will be legal in Canada.”
Euthanasia and so-called physician-assisted death are still illegal in Canada and should remain so, notwithstanding the Supreme Court’s highly questionable ultimatum.
I agree with the writer that the provinces should draft their own legislation, as the provinces are directly responsible for health care in this country.
The Conservatives have betrayed Canadians by not protecting fetal life, and so I don’t trust them to protect vulnerable seniors, of which I am one. If they do nothing, they will be repeating the same shameful mistake they made on the abortion §le.
In any event, this is an important federal election issue, and all candidates have an ethical responsibility to clearly state their positions.
The Supreme Court should not be dictating legislation in this country.
