Storm drains a source of ocean pollution

The curious proximity of the article on our proposed nearly $1-billion sewage system and the picture of the young people walking down what appears to be a storm drain on Willows Beach is perhaps a subtle reminder that there is more than one cause of pollution.

Rainwater on roofs, roads and parking lots collects oil and other impurities, which are carried to the ocean when they are not taken out en route by settling tanks.

It is to be hoped that those who push so forcefully for the new sewage system push equally hard to stop pollution through the storm-drain system.
