Re: “Site C cost could top $10 billion: report,” Nov. 2.
Our B.C. NDP government needs to look carefully at Ontario’s failed green-energy model.
Taxpayer subsidies to the non-competitive green-energy sector have proved to be a well-documented disaster. Infrastructure costs, rising debt-servicing costs and the raising of rates to offset these costs are not sustainable.
I see a parallel with our B.C. government succumbing to well-intentioned special-interest groups both NIMBY (not in my backyard) and CAVE people (citizens against virtually everything).
The most cost-effective method of producing energy is hydroelectric. The Site C dam project will meet our energy needs well into the future, and our government should stay the course and build the dam.
