Re: "Province urged to treat addicted parents without separating them from their kids," Nov. 30.
Our organization, ARCC (Addiction Recovery Coach of Canada) Society, was
developed out of an urgent need to support mothers struggling with mental health and addiction issues, many of which were discussed in the article. The primary reasons women are so reluctant to seek treatment are fear of being judged and fear of losing their children.
At ARCC, we have been involved in the development of a program called Moms Mentoring Moms. This program is a place where women can come and talk about being mothers struggling with substances, and was evaluated and proven to have many positive benefits. The current struggle we face after one year's successful operation is keeping this program going. We are a key part of the solution.
Please check us out on our website at arccsociety.com and support us to do what we do best: save lives and save families, one mother at a time.
