Good response from Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins to the divisive article in the Times Colonist over the weekend. What was the point of that article, anyway?

Finally, someone lays out an option of smaller, decentralized treatment. This approach should have been on the table from the beginning.

A number of years ago at the city-sponsored conference on water, the expert from Australia who spoke about rain harvesting and wastewater treatment emphasized repeatedly: “Don’t go for the big solution” for sewage treatment. We all know how that turned out.

Let’s hope Victoria city councillor Lisa Helps’s comments will open the floodgates on the popular support for multiple small-treatment options.
