Re: “Worries of thousands delay smart meters,” Dec. 28.
I have tried to find any evidence that smart meter radio waves are a health risk. I found one site that concluded this energy is dangerous if you are very close to a high-energy transmitting tower. There are sites that conclude this energy can basically damage brain cells, but provide no data or studies or power levels.
I did find a number of sites around the world debunking these fears. There are also large scale utilities in the U.S. and Europe and other provinces installing smart meters.
The concerned citizens opposed to the meters believe their cause is just and valid, with the NDP, the apparent government-in-waiting, seeming to confirming these dangers,
I can only hope that people with their chosen non-smart meters will be charged a fee to have a meter-reader visit their homes. That would be just and fair. Further delays trying to placate such objections would be the real waste of money. Get with the program.
