Some drivers are breaking the law and they probably don't realize it.
In unmarked crosswalks (two streets intersecting), the pedestrian still has the right of way, even if there is no marked crosswalk. (That is why it is called an "unmarked crosswalk.")
Of course, pedestrians would rather be alive than in the right, and need to take care and cross cautiously.
However, many drivers, instead of giving pedestrians crossing the unmarked intersection the right of way, give them the middle finger, shouting and barrelling on in front of them. Drivers might educate themselves by taking a few minutes to read the rules of the road.
