Re: “School boards fire back at minister over savings demands,” Dec. 18.
Remember when Christy Clark was education minister under premier Gordon Campbell? She just cut the school board budgets and said: “Deal with it.”
Now Education Minister Don McRae McRae simply gives the boards the money and says give some back, not even giving a reasonable amount of time to do it.
It was the government that negotiated the increase in wages. Let the government figure out how to pay them. The Liberals are desperate to present a balanced budget next year, and will go to any length to do it. They could start by cancelling their gold-plated severance pay. Who else can quit a job or be fired and receive $127,000 in severance benefits? How many millions is that going to cost the taxpayer?
