Process questionable in sewage compensation

I share Saanich Mayor Richard Atwell’s concern about the Capital Regional District’s apparent lack of due process in approving additional compensation for the two Core Area Waste Water Treatment project board members.

It’s so important for elected officials to demonstrate sound corporate governance and be financially accountable to taxpayers.

It’s not the compensation that is the issue, it’s the process.

While I note that board members Jane Bird and Don Fairbairn recused themselves from the compensation recommendation approval process, I am really surprised that it was the remaining members of the Core Area Waste Water Treatment Project Board who made the additional compensation request and not Community Minister Peter Fassbender, who appointed the board in the first place.
