Not as safe as our beef sent to Japan or the U.S., since they stopped imports last September. Thanks to them, we have learned that "self-monitoring" by beef producers and a directive to Canadian food inspectors to "ignore contamination on cattle carcasses unless they were destined for Japan" resulted in U.S. consumers avoiding tainted beef that made Canadians sick.
I wonder if Prime Minister Stephen Harper has gone vegan, since he seems comfortable spouting homilies, rather than ensuring that Canadians, as well as Japanese and U.S. consumers, are eating safe meat. Should not a prime minister at least make Canadians' health an equal priority to those in other lands?
Maybe he never asks, "Where's the beef?"
That's my beef.
