Parking misery found in downtown Sidney as well

I arrived in Sidney for a Saturday afternoon podiatrist appointment. Parking on Beacon was impossible. I drove in circles, expanding the radius eventually to three blocks, before beating two other vehicles to a solitary parking spot.

I arrived in Sidney for a Saturday afternoon podiatrist appointment.

Parking on Beacon was impossible. I drove in circles, expanding the radius eventually to three blocks, before beating two other vehicles to a solitary parking spot.

On the hike to the doctor’s office (which exacerbated my foot problem and made me 20 minutes late) two yellow-jacketed parking gendarmes were gleefully ticketing several vehicles.

Their dedication doubtless generates money for the town.

However, merchants, service providers, drivers and seniors have exhausted themselves complaining about shrinking availability and rising cost of parking on core area streets in Sidney, Victoria and other communities.

Why not do something nice for a change? Alleviate the stress, frustration, and road rage by making parking free on weekends. Also, increase public transit.
