Re: "One-year target for bus-only lanes for Douglas Street," Sept. 13.
Like many people, I'm extremely ticked that Victoria has lost its Johnson Street Bridge rail link into downtown.
Now Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin is thrilled that the capital can put off trams for 10 or 15 years with some paint on the road. Real leadership there. How about standing up for the capital while the Lower Mainland gets a massively disproportionate share of provincial dollars?
Bus rapid transit is a huge failure in Ottawa. High-occupancy-vehicle lanes have been a flop in California and elsewhere. Paint on roads is a cheapo BandAid that isn't going to change much.
